Dr.John Gebhart completed his 4-year OB/GYN residency and 3-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then joined the staff in 2001 at Mayo Clinic where he is a Professor of Obstetrics / Gynecology, Urology & Surgery and Chair – Division of Urogynecology. He previously served as the FPMRS fellowship program director for 14 years.

Dr. Gebhart has lectured extensively nationally and internationally and has published over a hundred peer-reviewed articles as well as numerous videos and book chapters. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the International Urogynecology Journal and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. He has served as Treasurer and Board Member for the American Urogynecology Society and the AUGS Foundation and previously was the Co Director of the AUGS Fellows Course and the AUGS Clinical Course. He has also served as Secretary/Treasurer, Board Member for the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and has served as President (2017-18) and SGS Postgraduate Course Co Director and was awarded the SGS Distinguished Surgeon Award in 2024.
